I know. You either love it or you hate it. Valentine’s Day or as some may call it, Single Awareness Day, can be a tough day. I use to get angry inside at people who had a bad attitude about this holiday. They would claim it was just a fake day for people to spend a lot of money. The older I get and the more people I meet I can see why this would be a hard day.
On the flip side I really admire those who do not have a special someone to celebrate with but have a good attitude anyway. They make Valentines cards, host chocolate fondue parties, deliver cookies or do other things to make others feel loved.
Isn’t that really what life is all about? To help others feel loved? In that case I love that there is a holiday dedicated completely to that cause.
Our challenge over here at SIS is for you to step outside your regular circle and find a way to spread some love this Valentines Day. Some ideas: smile more, (talk less..Hamilton anyone?), have a good attitude, put in a good word about a coworker to their boss, pick up garbage, say Thank You to the mail man or Taco Bell cashier, etc. etc.
This day doesn’t have to be all about the commercialism. It can simply be about what it’s supposed to be about–love.
At the end of the day a Dove chocolate never hurt anyone either 🙂
Happy Valentines Day.
